Young believer: Good morning sir, I just had a vision last night and I saw the Lord calling me to ministry. The Lord appeared to me and told me he needs me to liberate his people from the devil and he has specially chosen me to undertake this mission. You know that this region is plagued with do much demonic influence, I am going to give the devil a black eye… Glory!!!!
Old believer: That’s great, the chosen one, liberator general…..
Young believer: Why do I have a feeling there is sarcasm in your response sir?
Old believer: There is as a matter of fact. So the Lord spoke to you specially to go do a work for him? Like he appeared to you and told you he needed you?
Young believer: Exactly, what great honour…..
Old believer: I wanted to be certain it is not a mental issue we are dealing with here. You really believe this?
Young believer: I am dead serious. It’s the greatest moment of my life.
Old believer: You must think very highly of yourself and relevance in Gods predetermined redemptive work on the earth. Just to be very very clear, the God of the Bible has no NEED whatsoever to bring his purpose to pass. He establishes everything according to his eternal purpose. He doesn’t need man, but uses men. All believers are called to proclaim the gospel of Christ. He however has chosen some to be his shepards and gifted them appropriately (These guys are to be trained in ministry and not novices). They usually don’t get supernatural manifestation to undertake what he ordained in his word. In fact apart from the apostle Paul in the new testament, no other minister was supernaturally called. It shows you that that is an exception and not a rule. This visitation you and other fellows claim do not validate ministry. Even large membership do not (Thats the error of pragmatism – because something is apparently working doesn’t make it godly). By the way, are you not the same fellow that didn’t pass his examination and we are planning of enrol in extra classes?
Young believer: I am sir, but what do I do with this great calling?
Old believer: “Call centre minister” does God use idle men? by the way, what is the gospel? can you kindly articulate it for me? I mean, why did Jesus come into this world, and died on a cross? What was it all about? Surely, you know this don’t you?
Young believer: I am glad you asked, this is important to me since I have this high calling to reach all of my generation. So in a nutshell…
Old believer: cuts in, sorry, don’t give me the summarised version, tell me the complete gospel presentation.
Young believer: Well you know I will be too busy setting the captives free. People don’t need too much head knowledge, what we need is raw demonstration of power.
Old believer: cuts in, again, could you explain the gospel to me in the simplest possible terms you know?
Young believer: You see, because of our sins, the Lord sent Jesus to give our lives a meaning, to give us victory over the devil and to make us walk victoriously.
Old believer: You don’t say?
Young believer: He also died that witches and wizards will not have control over us. We carry the power on our inside. Out of their bellies….
Old believer: cuts in, wait a minute, is that the message you want to share with the people you have been miraculously sent to?
Young believer: I will not be doing too much talking or “head knowledge”, my role is to demonstrate the POWER of God and people will be saved.
Old believer: After a big sigh… it is important we understand the basics first. God has charged all Christians in his word to preach the gospel. Should we at least know what this gospel is? I guess we will have to talk about the gospel in depth. For now, you are better off doing productive things with your time. Now run along and..
Young believer: cuts in, I know, ….go and read my bible.
