Young believer: Good morning sir, it’s been ages, how are you doing?
Old believer: I am good and it’s nice to hear from you again. What are you up to these days?
Young believer: God is truly using me these days, my anointing has increased and there are mighty signs following. Glory hallelujah!!!! Just the other day, the anointing on my head………… (he then went ahead to describe one generic, vague, unspecific event that would be difficult to verify……….) I even operate in the prophetic now with accuracy.
Old believer: Interesting, good for you. Do have a nice day.
Young believer: Is that all you will say? There is a mighty move of God these days and I am privileged to be one of the vessels for the times. I truly want to hear your views on this great endtime move of God.
Old believer: Hmm, Let’s take it one at a time, I think you need to understand that words have specific meanings, and if they are BIBLICAL words; they MUST HAVE BIBLICAL meanings. In fact, I think we could start a definition of terms class starting with the Word anointing. we shall address the other big words later. What is this anointing that you speak about?
Young believer: Thank you, Sir, I am glad you asked, you know, as a man of God, if you don’t have power, the world will not hear, you. You know the gospel is not speaking grammar, it must be backed with power (say power….the young believer said and the old believer didn’t respond). So the anointing is the tangible power of God imparted to the anointed through which we decree and declare things to come to pass and cast out demons from people we minister to. So the anointing is what makes the DIFFERENCE Sir.
…..After a long stare…..
Old believer: Ok let me help you, here are 2 definitions: One is wrong and the other correct.
Version 1
The anointing is …….everything you stated with some sense of worth in what it can do and how it makes you extra-ordinary in some way or how it makes you have special access to God and sets you as an authority in receiving *fresh messages* form God. That’s why you must never speak against the anointed. When god is ready to bless you, he sends his anointed. You must be ready to accept that anointed to benefit from the anointing.
Version 2
1. To be set apart for a particular use (an individual or a thing). In the case of an individual like a king, this makes the individual both responsible and accountable (Both to the one who anoints – God and the people he leads). 1 Chr 29:22.
2. God empowers a person/people to perform a PARTICULAR task. 1 Sam 10;6, Acts 1:8. Also, take note of Acts 2:1-4 where the disciples were anointed and what they were anointed for (…to BE Jesus’ witnesses). Note that everyone in the upper room that day received this empowerment and not all cast out demons, preached, or healed the sick apart from a very select (the apostle mainly) just saying sha.
3. Reference to Jesus as the Messiah, promised deliverer, (Ps 84:9, Ps 89:38, Acts 10:38.
Of all the 3 definitions above, which of them do you belong to egbon anointed?
Young believer: Are you saying, my anointing is fake?
Old believer: Do you answer a question with a question? Now run along and……….
Young believer: I know READ MY BIBLE
